On page 101 in the text it reads,"these statements are intended to clarify the fundamental purple and priorities of the organization for its members and the families they serve." Keeping this in mind and using the one in the text as a guide I've created the one below:
My mission as a secondary educator is to foster a growth mindset & critical thinking in ALL students no matter the academic level while helping them become self sufficient, critical thinking, problem solving, responsible, respectful, productive citizens of society that's fully able to effectively communicate, and use technology in an evolving world.

My mission statement as an elementary educator would read: "to inspire the desire in all students to embark on a lifelong journey of learning, to instill the motivation to be a productive member of society and to utilize their individual gifts and skills to the best of their abilities." Teaching, to me, is ten percent imparting knowledge and ninety percent motivating students to continue to learn long after they leave my classroom.

Based on chapter 6, pages 101-103 (section "Mission: Why Do We Exist?"), write a mission statement for your school.....this is the mission statement for our school. But, since we are a behavioural school, I would also add that our school focuses on expectations of good behaviour, to help the students better meet the expectations of their home campuses. Klein ISD Alternative Classes will provide instruction of state curriculum that includes the same essential elements as instruction given at other campuses within the district. The faculty and staff will provide a supervised, structured, and positive environment. We will encourage our students to succeed academically and develop positive attitudes, values, and life coping skills for good citizenship. This mission will be accomplished with the cooperation of parents, teachers and support staff, administrators, and the Board of Trustees of Klein Independent School District. __________________ Jennifer Goedken

In keeping with "truth in advertising"
By the end of the K-12 academic school year, using innovative and flexible teaching methods, maintain a safe learning environment, providing access to up to date technological tools, and "creating a condition that leads to high student learning" (Praise, DuFour), Fairfield ISD will produce students who can read analytically, write convincingly, understand the importance of math and being financially literate, extrapolate historical evidence and apply it to current events and be able to predict future implications, evaluate scientific processes and changes and use knowledge to protect earth and its inhabitants while pursuing excellence in developing procedures and experiments to "boldly go where no one has gone before", and appreciate the arts while being open to various perspectives and interpretations, all in conjunction within the paradigm of their career choices as decided collaborately with school representatives, the student, the parental guardian, and functionally academic progress. __________________ Nanceen Hoskins

I don't know if I can really give the mission statement for my school because I haven't started teaching yet. On their website, the mission statement is "Lions Inspiring Others to Never Settle". A good statement, if a bit vague. The vision statement has a bit more to go on.
I can, however, impart my own personal mission: It is my mission to inspire future story-tellers and readers. It is my mission to instill motivation, responsibility and positive thinking within my students, and to assist in growing these skills. It is my mission to develop lifelong learners. It is my mission to create a caring and safe environment for my students to advance and learn. PS: I have to mention this because it really hit a cord for me. "In the 21st century, illiterates will be those who have not learned how to learn and continue their learning beyond the K-12 system." (pg. 105). That's crazy to think, but oh so true. __________________

Our mission is to provide a safe, dignified, and engaging learning environment to each of our students. We the teachers, principals, and support staff are committed to providing educational opportunities that will transfer to lifelong learning and real world skills.
My mission statement interpretation:
of these are: technology, reading a legal document, strong math skills (budgeting), where to search for unanswered questions, and social / work skills to navigate technical trade school, college, and/or the work force. Some examples , each student will have goals, high expectations for themselves, and learning that takes them into the future better prepared to navigate their communities when graduating from high school.
